FORTRESS RASNOV

Rasnov is one of the best preserved peasant fortress of Transylvania. It was built by people Rasnov to defend against increasingly frequent attacks of the Turks and Tatars in 13-14 centuries. There is an architectural style, was built so that it is hard to get. It was built of stone and brick, there are houses and alleys, was well preserved over time and has now been restored and can be visited. There is a legend related to well inside the fortress. It is said that during a siege Râsnov inhabitants have put two prisoners to dig a well so that upon completion of construction to be released.  

They dug for 17 years, during which verses from the Koran written on the walls of the well (they are seen today). Do not know what was their fate. Up there have a great view over Barsa Depression and the city. Worth to climb up there.

BAYEZID MARKET - ISTANBUL

Bayazid is a huge market space, is one of the busiest places in town for several centuries. Popular name is Bayezid Square (Beyazit Meydani) but officially called
Freedom Square (Hurriyet Meydani). Ranks "Forum Tauri" forum Theodosiu Greek novel, the name coming from the bronze bull statue. It was a place of ritual sacrifice.

LIVING STONES TROVANTII

Costesti village, which lies near the road between Ramnicu Valcea of Targu Jiu, Romania can observe the wonders created by nature. There are sculptures in stone, with bizarre shapes, some small, others out at the height of a man who emerged as people exploit the sand quarry.

These formations are called trove or popular "living stones". They say it would be over 6 million years old and would have occurred due to local cementing of sand, possibly due to a seismic activities. Most trove of Costesti ellipsoidal in shape.


Locals insisted that after a long rain of small rises trove wet sand and stones actually grow larger.



This theory is confirmed.

It is a natural phenomenon that deserves to be seen. Here is the only museum in the world of trovantilor.

GENOVESE LIGHTHOUSE Constanta ROMANIA

A Landmark in the Black Sea coast is the Genovese Lighthouse.
Genovese Lighthouse is located in the northern end of the cliff. It is believed that it was built by the Genoese for guidance to ensure that ships bound for Constanta bay, around 1300. Octagonal lighthouse has a height of 8 meters and the top has a metal dome. The lighthouse was rebuilt in its current form by the British in 1860-1861. Is an interesting monument of architecture. Wars have caused more damage. In 1948 it was restored.

APUSENI (WESTERN) MOUNTAINS ROMANIA

Carpathian Mountains in Romania are old mountains with pine forests, caves, with many natural riches, with very beautiful tourist routes. Some lighter, others more difficult. The next day we went to Cave Scarisoara. This cave is inside a huge glacier.

VOINEASA ROMANIA

VORONET

Not far from the town of Gura Humorului, a tributary of the Moldova Valley was built over five centuries ago one of the most beautiful monasteries;

LAKE VIDRA ROMANIA

Vidra Lake is situated at the highest altitude in Romania. It can be reached quite easily from Voineasa. The road is superb, more serpentine, wonderful scenery. Too bad the resort is arranged. But for a ride in a special area, to make the effort worthwhile.

TULCEA CITY ON SEVEN HILLS

The city gates of the Danube, Tulcea, is situated on the seven hills of Tulcea Hill. It was a Greek settlement called" Aegyssus "and the time of Mircea the Old City was called Tulcea.
It is the second most important city in Dobrogea. Besides the fact that it goes from here in the Delta town you can visit:
Independence Monument, the Museum of History and Archaeology, St. Nicholas Cathedral, Delta Natural Sciences Museum, Greek Church, the Church clock.
You can walk on the shore, where boats are moored which you can move in the Delta.
Civic Square is the statue of Mircea the Old.

CONSTANTA GENOESE LIGHTHOUSE

Among the interesting things to be seen on the Black Sea Coast, the Genoese Lighthouse is an important tourist objective.

The Genoese Lighthouse is situated in the Northern part of the sea-wall. It is believed to have been built by the Genoese merchants in order to guide their ships which were making their way towards the Constanta bay, around 1300 A.D.

The octagonal lighthouse is 8 meters high and is topped by a metal dome. The lighthouse has been rebuilt in its present shape by the English between 1860-1861. It represents an interesting architecture monument. As the wars caused great damages to it, it was restored in 1948.

Not far from the lighthouse there lies the aquarium.

It is the first public aquarium in Romania and it was inaugurated on the First of May 1958. The building where the aquarium is set up was built in the beginning of the 19^th century. Until 1950 the building was destined to another use and that is the reason why it does not really answer the exigencies of an up-to-date aquarium. In spite of all these, the Constanta aquarium remains the most important establishment of this kind in the country though afterwards other natural science museums have created departments with the same profile. In the 57 pools permanent aquatic fauna and flora are shown but temporary exhibitions displaying different aquatic biological and ecological themes may be organized as well.
